Steven has been cast in a new movie called Sleeping With the Fishes:
“Magic City” thesp Steven Strait is set to star opposite Gina Rodriguez in writer-director Nicole Gomez Fisher’s indie pic “Sleeping With the Fishes.”
Recent Sundance breakout Rodriguez (“Filly Brown”) will play a young woman who, after the death of her cheating husband, must return home to her dysfunctional, cross-cultural family. With the help of her quirky sister (Ana Ortiz) and a budding new love interest (Strait), she begins to realize that one must lose everything in life to discover what has been buried there all along.
Co-stars include Priscilla Lopez as the protag’s Puerto Rican mother and Tibor Feldman as her Jewish father.
Courtney Andrialis is producing the pic, which starts shooting this month in Brooklyn.
Strait, who plays one of Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s sons on the Starz series “Magic City,” is best known for starring in Roland Emmerich’s prehistoric epic “10,000 BC.” His other feature credits include Raymond De Felitta’s acclaimed indie “City Island,” Kimberly Peirce’s post-war drama “Stop-Loss” and Renny Harlin’s thriller “The Covenant.”
Strait is repped by CAA and 3 Arts Entertainment.
